Since the introduction of umbrella to humanity as a shield against the rain, you would surely notice that there's nothing new on its designt but a skeleton of long thin hard objects covered with some kind of waterproof materials to protect the individual using it from the raindrops.
But this time a new concept is really a something new, that's the air umbrella. It's design is to shoot up a jet of air on the surroundings to protect the user against the rain. It has a motor run by lithium battery. It is also designed with adjustable handle just like the common umbrellas. The project is being developed by a R&D team from China which most of the members hold Ph.D/Master degree of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics or Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
There are some problems that may arise like its battery life, and if in the common umbrella, there is danger of poking the eye of people around you, in the air umbrella there is a danger of shooting rain water too to people around the air jet of the air umbrella. And if there are more others, they might being addressed as the project is still in research and development phase.
The starting up of this project is trying to raise funds through Kickstarter with a target amount of $10,000, but as of this post it has already received more than $14,100 pledges, ten days before the ending of the project funding. The target release of the completed product is expected to be December 2015.
